  • Hey there guys and gals,

I have a question I haven’t manage to find an answer to yet.

As a mobile DJ using Traktor Pro 2.5 I often have to work with whatever hardware is available. It isn’t always possible to hook up my Denon MC-6000 or, if I am hired by another company, I may be forced to use their setup. So I might find myself having 2 Pioneers at my disposal (350, 450, 1000s) and a standard mixer for example. I would still like to use Traktor on my laptop with all my music, playlists, cuepoints and loops etx. and use the Pioneers as controllers. However, it is really unpractical to set up and test Traktor everytime I have to switch hardware setups.

I have tried successfully to make a new (windows 7) user for several configurations, e.g. I have a user named 350, one named 450, one named MC-6000, etx. Although this works to an extend (you have to set all your cuepoint, music and directories to be the same, but NOT the place where the settings are stored, those need to go into the current user home directory), it could possibly mean if you have to change something you have to go and log in to every user and make the same changes. Hardly a single point of failure approach.

So I have been wondering if there isn’t a nicer, cleaner and easier way to set up Traktor Pro to deal with changing hardware setup situations. It would make life so much easier if you could just create something like profiles. Just pick the right profile upon startup (with deck layouts, output routing, controller settings, etx.) and off you go. You set them up at home or at a place that has the right hardware during off-hours, test it extensively and on gig night you’d be sure to have a working setup without having to worry if you did indeed change all the right values.

I read the manual. The bit about profiles is not helpful in that it let’s you move 1 profile to multiple machines (or back them up or even make it a portable solution) but it does not tell you if you can have several profiles for the same Traktor Pro installation with different (hardware) settings.

Any input is greatly appreciated. I will toss this thread on the Traktor forum as well.

I experienced the same frustrations. The import/export solves almost everything but there are a few small things that you may have to adjust at times but it saves you having to race through like a million settings.
